Seymour Daily Tribune Alice J. Rider August 4, 2006 Alice J. Rider, 89, Terre Haute, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at her son's home in Seymour. Mrs. Rider retired from the federal government in the Civil Service. She was a former deputy recorder of Bartholomew County. She was a member of East Columbus Methodist Church, AARP and NARFE. Born March 14, 1917, in Little York, she spent many years in the Bartholomew County area and several years in Terre Haute. She was a daughter of Margaret Cunningham and Joseph Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1941, she married Leland M. Rider, who preceded her in death in 1964. Survivors include two sons, Ken (Pam) Rider, Seymour, Van (Mary) Rider, Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Brian Rider and Christine Rider, and three great-grandchildren, Alison Rider, Caitlin Rider, and Karsen Rider. She was preceded in death by one infant son, William Max Rider, three brothers, Andy Johnson, Lige Johnson and Ned Johnson, and four sisters, Lucille Noe, Bert Gardner, Ava Froats and Bess Bennett. The Rev. W.A. Amerson will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Monday at Garland Brook Cemetery.
