Seymour Daily Tribune April 27, 2002 John William Riley John William Riley, 77, Medora, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at the Medical Center of Southern Indiana, Charlestown. Mr. Riley retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Gas Co. after 20 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1946 including on the U.S.S. Edgecombe during the Battle of Okinawa. He was a member of Medora United Methodist Church. Born Oct. 14, 1924, in Fountain County, he was married to Margie Williams Riley. She survives. He also is survived by a daughter, Cindy Sheaks, Walkerton; a sister, Vera Hutts, Walkerton; and two grandchildren, Brian Shi and Riley Sheaks, both of Walkerton. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Albert, Lowell and George Riley. The Rev. John Thrasher will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday at Hague Funeral Home, Medora. Burial will be at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora. Graveside military rites also will be held. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Medora United Methodist Church.
