Seymour Tribune - November 6, 2009 Flora (Davidson) Roeder 1916 - 2009 Flora Roeder, 93, Brownstown, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at her daughter's residence in Indianapolis. Flora was a member of Brownstown Christian Church and was a housewife and mother. She and her late husband celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary just prior to his death on March 30, 2008. Her primary accolades and accomplishments were of being a devoted wife and mother. In that, she never faltered. She was very passionate about her life and family. Even at 93, she was still the matriarch of this very large family and lived independently until April of this year. She was devoted to God and church, which helped her live an exemplary life. She will be missed by many. Born Aug. 7, 1916, in Manchester, Ky., she was the daughter of Luther and Sarah Bowlin Davidson, both of whom preceded her in death. On Dec. 26, 1936, in Jackson County, she married Oscar Roeder, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie (Pete) Conner, Eden Prairie, Minn., Sandra Schmadeke, Indianapolis, and Judy (David) Huckleberry, New Albany; one brother, Al (Joanne) Davidson, Seymour; two sisters, Lou (Joe) Richart, Brownstown, and Marjorie Kindred, Newtown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, William Schmadeke; seven brothers; and three sisters. Virgil Clotfelter will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
