Seymour Daily Tribune May 7, 2002 Louie A. Roney Louie A. Roney, 84, of Bloomfield and formerly of Salem, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington. Mr. Roney retired in 1980 after 34 years with the old GTE Telephone Co., Salem. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church near Fredericksburg, a 50-year member of Salem Masonic Lodge 21 F&AM, and a former member of the Salem Volunteer Fire Department. He moved from Salem to Bloomfield in 1993. Born Sept. 8, 1917, in Salem, he was a son of George T. and Sarah F. Sparks Roney, who both preceded him in death. On Dec. 2, 1938, he married Hazel Wells Roney and she died May 1, 1992. He is survived by three sons, Robert E. Roney, Columbus, Garry L. Roney, Seymour, and Larry A. Roney, Bloomfield; three brothers, Douglas Roney and Nole Roney, both of Salem, and Roy Roney, Glendive, Mont.; four sisters, Ruby Wright, Austin, Nellie Baker and Bea Adams, both of Salem, and Creta Meredith, Leitchfield, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also was preceded by two sons, a brother and a sister. The Rev. Robert Holler will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home, Salem. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
