Seymour Daily Tribune Billy Eugene Rotert August 8, 2006 Billy Eugene Rotert, 75, Freetown, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at his residence. He had been ill since 1996. Mr. Rotert attended Freetown United Methodist Church and was in the Air Force and reserve for eight years. He was a retired farmer and retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 29 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and also a Boy Scout leader and Little League baseball coach. Born July 2, 1931, in Freetown, he was a son of Herschel L. Rotert and Mary Denny Rotert, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 29, 1952, in Freetown, he married Helen Cooper, who survives. Other survivors include two sons William "Randy" (Marjorie) Rotert and Richard "Rick" (Kimberly) Rotert, both of Freetown; one sister, Ruth May Rotert Anderson, Phoenix, Ariz., three grandchildren, Laura Ann (Dan) Vague, Lafayette, Richard L. Rotert II and Matthew Randall Rotert, both of Freetown. David Ison will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Freetown Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Freetown United Methodist Church, Houston Christian Church or donor's choice.
