Seymour Daily Tribune February 23, 2002 Richard Thomas Rothert Sr. Richard Thomas “Dick” Rothert Sr., 74, North Vernon, died at 1:12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Seymour. Mr. Thomas retired from North Vernon Forge in 1990 after 38 years and was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed woodworking, formerly played baseball and softball and was an avid Indiana University fan. He was a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church. Born Jan. 19, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of Joseph B. Rothert and Stella May Birdcell Rothert. On Oct. 26, 1950, in North Vernon, he married Hattie Arlene Monday, who survives in North Vernon. Other survivors include two sons, Richard Thomas Rothert Jr. and Bobby Joe Rothert, both of North Vernon; three daughters, Linda Lou Cline, Deputy, and Vickie Lynn Foga and Debbie Arlene Carman, both of North Vernon; seven granddaughters, Cheryl L. Ford, Dupont, Pamela S. Cline, Deputy, Tessa D.A. Rothert, Clanton, Ala., and Sabrina L. Rothert, Autumn D. Rothert, Heather A. Rothert and Brandi A. Hartwell, all of North Vernon; three grandsons, Michael T. Cline, Deputy, and Joseph W. Rothert and Roger R. Hartwell, both of North Vernon; and three great-grandchildren, Trenton B. Ford and Justin T. Ford, both of Dupont, and Kyelina H. Hembree, North Vernon. He was preceded in death by a son, Denny Ray Rothert, and a half brother, Robert Ort. The Rev. David Wharton will conduct services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by North Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars, Matt Hester Post 2021. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
