Seymour Daily Tribune April 15, 2002 Lucille Sanford Lucille Sanford, 76, Columbus, died at 1:52 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus. Mrs. Sanford was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She worked for Columbus Regional Hospital in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1984. She was involved in the Columbus community as a “helping hand” neighbor, driving friends and neighbors from place to place. Born Dec. 6, 1925, in Columbia, Ky., she was the daughter of Monte and Ethel Burton. On Dec. 13, 1941, in Columbus, she married Harry A. Sanford and he died Dec. 30, 1978. She is survived by three daughters, Goldie Elkins, Darlene Knotts and Diana McNicholas, all of Columbus; three sons, Harry Sanford Jr. and Elmer Sanford, both of Columbus, and Mike Sanford, Seymour; a brother, Roy Lee Burton, Seymour; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Becky Ann and Aaron Sanford; a great-grandson, Dylan Harris; three sisters and six brothers. The Rev. James A. Seddon and the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell chapel, Columbus. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the Leukemia Society through the funeral home.
