Seymour Daily Tribune January 29, 2007 Lawrence Ray Schill March 15, 1911 - Jan. 27, 2007 Lawrence Ray "Lab" Schill, 95, Crothersville, died at 7:52 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at his home with family by his side. Mr. Schill lived a life of service. He worked as a carpenter, a self-employed handyman, for Crothersville Utilities, Charlestown Powder Plant, Morgan's Packing Company, Camp Atterbury and Vincennes Canning Factory and retired from Public Service Indiana. He was well-known in the community by his nickname "Lab" and supplied many families with firewood after his retirement. Born March 15, 1911, in Crothersville, he was a son of Francis B. Schill and Jennetie Clark, both of whom preceded him in death. Mrs. Schill later married Arthur Roseberry, who also preceded him in death. On Nov. 4, 1933, Mr. Schill married Dorothy Lucille Robbins of Memphis, who died in 2001. Survivors include three sons, Alton R. (Margaret) Schill and Francis D. (Sue) Schill, both of Crothersville, and Denny E. (Violeta) Schill, Crandall, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jana Schill, Amy (Andy) Combs and Bethany Johnson, all of Crothersville; Linda (Mark) Luedeman, Seymour, Bill (Phyllis) Schill, Austin, Kevin (Debbie) Schill, Naab, Julie (Rick) Tenney, Toledo, Ohio, and Dasa Schill and Jonah Schill, both of Chico, Calif.; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Lee Schill and Robert Allen Schill; four brothers, Frank, Claude, Ernest and Kenneth Schill; two sisters, Maude Schill and Louise Paul; a half brother; Joe Roseberry; and a half sister; Flora Belle Terrell. The Rev. David Schill will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Burial will take place in Crothersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Crothersville Cemetery Fund.
