Seymour Daily Tribune January 9, 2002 Vera L. Schwebke Vera L. Schwebke, 91, Belvidere, Ill., died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Ill., after a brief illness. She had worked as a presser, both for Troy Laundry in Belvidere and also out of her home, for 29 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Belvidere. Born July 6, 1910, in Belvidere, she was a daughter of Carl “Charlie” Stegemann and Minnie Casper. On April 14, 1928, in Belvidere, she married Wilburt G. “Burt” Schwebke, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (W. Dale) Weasner, Seymour; a daughter-in-law, Anne Schwebke, Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Terry (LeAnne) Schwebke, Faith (Clayton) Simonson, Sandra (David) Dotson, Sharon (John) Loos, Kathryn (Tracy) Roberts, Karin (Leonard) Frickson, Gregory (Joyce) Prange and Teresa (Kevin) Dukes; and 12 great-grandchildren, Nicole and Nathan Schwebke, Kara and Elizabeth Simonson, David, Michael and Daniel Dotson, Ryan Loos, Skyler and Piper Prange and Mahlie and Mitchell Dukes. She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Schwebke; two brothers, Alden and Harold Stegemann; and a sister, Helen Strawn. The Rev. Eugene E. Wille will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, Belvidere, Ill. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to a fund established in her name and may be sent to Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008.
