Seymour Tribune - September 4, 2009 Fern Elizabeth Jackson Seegers 1921 - 2009 Fern Elizabeth Jackson Seegers, 88, Vevay, passed away at 12:58 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Ky. Mrs. Seegers was raised in Jackson County, where she attended school. She had resided in Seymour for 18 years when she moved to Milton, Ky., in 1964. She had been a resident of Vevay since 1997. She owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Milton, Ky., from 1961 to 1971. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 134 in Seymour and Marion Baptist Church in Jennings County. Born March 22, 1921, in Homer, she was the daughter of Walter Scott and Leona Belle Ennis Jackson, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 25, 1940, in Seymour, she married Eldo Alfred Seegers, who preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Sally Ann Layman and her companion, Bob Pratt, Pasadena, Texas, Phyllis Jane (Don) Daugherty, LaPorte, Texas, and Martha Jean (Bob) Robbins Lusby, Brownstown, formerly of Vevay; one granddaughter, Amanda Elizabeth Deveary (Doug) White, Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Earl Jackson, and sisters, Frances Ann Berry, Dortha Carpenter and Viola Mae Trapp. The Rev. Rick Daugherty will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Sunday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Commiskey. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
