Seymour Daily Tribune May 16, 2002 David Franklin Sexton David Franklin Sexton, 64, Columbus, died at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus. Mr. Sexton was a former 27-year employee of Cummins Engine Co. and a member of the Seventh Street Church of God. He was a former Boy Scout scoutmaster, an assistant leader for the Girl Scouts and a former 4-H leader. He coached biddy basketball and Little League, and umpired softball and Little League baseball at Lincoln Park. Born Jan. 24, 1938, in Bloomington, he was the son of John Doyle and Nadah Blanche McLahlan Sexton. On July 28, 1962, in Bloomington, he married Sharon Shoufler and she survives. He also is survived by a son, Steven M. Sexton, Columbus; three daughters, Teressa Hart, Indianapolis, and Becky Barriger and Stephanie Sexton, both of Columbus; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Denney, Brian Barriger and Sarah Barriger, all of Columbus, Bradley Sexton, Holly Sexton and Holly Denney, all of Greensburg, and Jena Hart, Indianapolis. He was preceded by a son, Michael David Sexton; a daughter, Cheryl Denney; and two brothers. The Rev. Allen Henderson will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel, Columbus. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials made be made to the donor’s choice.
