Seymour Daily Tribune May 14, 2002 Helen L. Shearer Helen L. Shearer, 82, Columbus, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus. Mrs. Shearer was a retired barber-trimmer for the old U.S. Shoe Corp. in Crothersville and Madison for 45 years. She attended Bethel Holiness Church in Columbus. Born July 30, 1919, in Lexington, she was the daughter of Carl E. Uebel and Nettie Schreiber, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Donald S. Shearer, Columbus; three daughters, Norma Sue Hall, Crothersville, Caroline Hall, Mobeley, Mo., and Rebecca R. Whitmer, Westfield; four brothers, Glenn Uebel, Greenwood, Carl Uebel Jr., Columbus, Joseph Uebel, Georgia, and Thomas Uebel, Madison; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by her husband, Marion S. Shearer. Wayne Mahoney, Robert Thompson, Gilbert Hall and Brian Wardlow will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Burial will be at Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
