Seymour Tribune Clarence Irvin Shelton Sr. 1931 - 2008 Clarence Irvin Shelton Sr., 77, Seymour, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. Shelton was a 1950 graduate of Shields High School and also attended Wilberforce University in Ohio for two years. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1985 after 29 ? years of service. After retirement he worked for Monroe County Park and Recreation. Irvin had a big heart and loved everyone. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He adored his grandchildren. Mr. Shelton was affiliated with Christian Family Fellowship. He was a past Masonic and Shrine member through the years, an ordained deacon and also a Master Gardener. He was born on Nov. 16, 1931, in Seymour, to Archie and Blanche Maddex Shelton. Irvin was married to Juanita Faye Carr on June 25, 1977, who survives. Other survivors include seven children, Yvonne Shelton, Kay (Lamont) Welton and Clarence Irvin (Terry) Shelton Jr., all of Seymour, Stewart (Nicy) Shelton, Bedford, Texas, and Coleen Shelton, Christina (Randy) Pedigo and Chess (Melissa) Ruddick, all of Seymour; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant at birth and James "Babe" Shelton in 2007. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service with full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans Post 47 and Vietnam Veterans Post 7, all of Seymour, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Community Church, 350 Calvin Blvd, Seymour. Friends may gather from 11 a.m. until time of service for visitation at the church.
