Seymour Daily Tribune February 9, 2002 Dr. Stewart H. Silver Dr. Stewart H. Silver, 79, Seymour, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Largo Medical Center, Largo, Fla. Dr. Silver began his ministry at First Baptist Church in Seymour in February 1963. Before his ministry in Seymour, he was pastor of First Baptist Church of Paragon, State Street Baptist Church of New Albany and First Baptist Church of Connersville. He had lived in Rochester, N.Y. He graduated from Taylor University with a bachelor of arts degree and also attended Hougton College and Ball State University. He then studied at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, from which he received master of divinity and doctorate degrees. He had been active in Little League programs in Connersville and Seymour and was a Kiwanis Club member in Connersville. He had served as the assistant welfare secretary, Salvation Army, Louisville; moderator, East Central Baptist Association; moderator, Brownstown Baptist Association; president, Seymour Ministerial Association; vice president and president, Indiana Baptist Convention; and representative of the Eighth Election District from Indiana on the general board of the ABC/USA. He also served on the boards of the Salvation Army, Connersville; board of managers, Indiana Baptist Convention; Eastside Christian Center, Indianapolis; Baptist Conventions; Baptist Student Foundation at Purdue University; International Ministries of ABC/USA; executive committee of the Board of International Ministries; nominating committee of the ABC/USA; and trustees of Judson College. Dr. Silver served as a member of the board of the Greater Seymour Trust Fund; field supervisor and doctor of ministry program at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; supervisor in the certified lay ministers program of the Indiana Baptist Convention; and professor at Boyce Bible School, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
