Seymour Daily Tribune February 24, 2007 Sharon Ann Simmons June 3, 1943 - Feb. 22, 2007 Sharon Ann Simmons, 63, North Vernon, died at 8:14 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus. Mrs. Simmons attended Seymour High School and Ivy Tech State College. She was a homemaker, and had formerly worked as a cashier at the North Vernon IGA and the Head Start Program in Westport. She was a member of Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing and The Thimbleberries Quilt Club, North Vernon. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, flowers and being with her grandchildren. Born June 3, 1943, in Jackson County, she was a daughter of Clarence and Pauline (Banks) McDonald. Her father preceded her in death, and her mother survives. She married Roger Simmons on June 11, 1960, in Uniontown. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Joe and Jay Simmons, both of North Vernon; one daughter, Jill Olds, Shelbyville; one brother, William J. McDonald, Seymour; one sister, Maciva Chancey, Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Ryan and Rex Olds, Shelbyville, Jennifer Simmons, Seymour, and Jacob, Molly and Eli Simmons, all of North Vernon; and one great-grandchild, Michael Allen Flannery, Seymour. She was preceded in death by one brother, Gary McDonald. Brother Jimmy Soblotne will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Monday at Vernon Cemetery, Vernon. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jennings County.
