Seymour Daily Tribune March 1, 2002 Wilbur Sitterding Wilbur “Don” Sitterding, 68, Norman, died at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville after being ill for seven months. Mr. Sitterding was a member of Vallonia United Methodist Church and Medora Lodge 328, Free and Accepted Masons. He had worked at the Golden Foundry in Columbus for 25 years as maintenance supervisor. From 1948 to 1952 he played for the Vallonia Redbirds, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Born Aug. 29, 1933, in Jackson County, he was a son of Wilbur and Mary Miller Sitterding. On June 1, 1957, in Vallonia, he married Ida A. Pfenning, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Donald (and Donna) Sitterding, Columbus, Lex Sitterding, Norman, and Philip Sitterding, Seymour; two grandchildren, Michelle Sitterding and Dustin Sitterding; three sisters, Mrs. Gay (Darrien) Ison, Elizabethtown, and Deidra Cockerham and Carol Sitterding, both of Browntown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and John Sitterding, and an infant sister. The Rev. Max Shelton will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kurtz Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Kurtz Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
