Seymour Daily Tribune December 5, 2006 Madeira E. Skinner Dec. 17, 1913 - Dec. 2, 2006 Madeira E. "Gene" Skinner, 72, died at 7:29 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. Skinner was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. He retired in 1987, from Ross Aluminum Co. in Sydney, Ohio, after 28 years of service as a forklift operator. He loved visiting the gambling boats, working at the car wash and his truck. Born Dec. 17, 1933, in Circle City, Ohio, he was a son of Madeira Wilfur and Thelma Boger Skinner, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Alberta Gayle Stewart on Oct. 10, 1999, in Seymour. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, David Eugene Skinner, Randall Lee Skinner, both of Botkin, Ohio, Douglas James Skinner, Anna, Ohio, and Russell Scott Skinner, St. Paris, Ohio; one daughter, Tonya Dell, Columbus, Ohio; four step-children, Cheryl Lynn Fields, Kentucky, James Lee Sparks, Jr., Indianapolis, Shirley Ann (Randy) McCammon, Bloomington, and James Keith (Kinya) Sparks, North Vernon; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; two sisters, Charme Fogt, Sidney, Ohio and Bulah "Boots" (Phil) Elliot, Tipp City, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet and a great grandchild, Hope Louise. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion #89, V.F.W. #1925, D.A.V. #47, and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
