Seymour Tribune Dorothy Elizabeth (Ewing) Smith 1921 - 2009 Dorothy Elizabeth Smith, 87, of Lisle, Ill., and formerly of Seymour, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Villa St. Benedict. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Seymour, and was an officer for the Daughters of Isabella. Dorothy moved to Seymour in 1968 and lived here until 1999. She was active in the community as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy had many interests, but her main focus was her family. Born in Rockport, on Feb. 18, 1921, she was the daughter of Eugene and Kathrine Stewart Ewing, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 24, 1941, in Lebanon, she married Curtis A. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1974. Survivors include her children, Mary Pat Hengesbaugh, Paul Smith, Curtis Joseph Smith, Joan E. Zink and Donna Jean Longbrake; grandchildren, Jackie Macenas, Brian Hengesbaugh, Emory Zink, Curtis Longbrake, Essica Zink and Victoria Smith; and a great granddaughter, Jordan Morgan. She was preceded in death by her siblings. Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Arrangements are being handled by Voss Funeral Service, Seymour.
