Seymour Daily Tribune March 1, 2002 Freddie Dale Smith Freddie Dale Smith, 80, Scottsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Louisville. Mr. Smith was retired from American Can Co. in Austin and was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II. He was a member of New Bethel Methodist Church; Scottsburg Lodge 572, Free and Accepted Masons; Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite; and Kentuckiana Mended Hearts Chapter 11. Born Nov. 26, 1921, in Jefferson County, he was a son of Fred and Florence B. Stockdale Smith. On Sept. 27, 1941, he married Dorothy M. Dowling, who survives. Other survivors include two brothers, Kenneth Severs, Lexington, Ky., and Paul Dowling, Milton, Ky., and a sister, Betty Ann Conover, Fort Wayne. The Rev. Glenn Perkins will conduct services at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stewart Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Lexington. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Scottsburg Masonic Lodge 572 will conduct services at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be given to New Bethel Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
