Seymour Daily Tribune March 7, 2002 James Smith James “Iggie” Smith, 75, Seymour, died at 11:53 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Seymour. Mr. Smith retired in 1984 as a mechanic at Stadler Packing Co., where he had worked for 30 years. He was past governor of Greensburg Moose Lodge and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Born Jan. 2, 1927, in Seymour, he was a son of James F. and Minnie Reeves Smith. On Dec. 20, 1947, he married Pauline Black, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Willie A. Black and Charles Jewell, both of Seymour, and Billy Jewell, Tennessee; two daughters, Alice Dooley, Commiskey, and Evelyn Followell, Seymour; a brother, Harrison Smith, Greensburg; a sister, Goldie Brown, Seymour; six grandchildren, Shannon Altepeter, Heidi Black and Matthew and Patrick Followell, all of Seymour, Melissa Gater, Dupont, and Eric Raes, Commiskey; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers. The Rev. Eugene Day will conduct services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
