Seymour Tribune - March 2009 Nancy Ann Smith Nancy Ann Smith, 87, of Seymour passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009, at 4:10 p.m. at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. Born May 27, 1921, in Perry County, Ky., she was the daughter of James and Loucinda (Couch) Wombles; both are deceased. She married Coonie Smith in Perry County, Ky. He preceded her in death. Grandma Nancy worked with many kindergarteners throughout the years at Margaret R. Brown Elementary School in its grandparents' program where she enjoyed playing with them. She was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, gardening, playing bingo and most of all being with her family and friends. Survivors include four children, Bobby (Ruby) Smith of Commiskey, Dianne Ferguson of Denton, Texas, Don (Patty) Smith of Columbus, and Connie (Robert) Hill of North Vernon; nine grandchildren, Bev Smith, Greensburg, Rick Smith of Commiskey, Tim (Maureen) Ferguson, Denton, Texas, Greg (Shelly) Ferguson, Columbus, Trent (Johanna) Ferguson, Columbus, Monica (Sean) Byrum, Franklin, Chris (Sarah) Rose, Seymour, Amy (Harold) House, Paris Crossing, and Robbie Hill, North Vernon; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Blanton, Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, Bill Rice, Manchester, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Viola Gay, Crothersville, and Ruby Gay, Austin; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. Two brothers, six sisters, one grandson, Bobby Joe Smith, and two great-grandsons, Tanner Ferguson and Luke Byrum, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville with burial to follow at Uniontown Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
