Seymour Daily Tribune Doris Burns Smock September 14, 2006 Doris Burns Smock, 83, of Crothersville died at 2:58 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Mrs. Smock had been a Crothersville resident since 1969, moving from Jennings County where she resided for many years. She worked for the U.S Shoe Corp. for more than 22 years and retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1987 where she worked for 15 years. She also was employed by the Crothersville Community School cafeteria for many years. Mrs. Smock was a past member of the Seymour American Legion. Born July 17, 1923, in Norma, Tenn., she was the daughter of Albert and Maggie (Stuart) Nolen. On March 26, 1996, she married George T. Smock, who resides in Crothersville. Other survivors include two sons, Ray and Janice Burns, Conyers, Ga., Bill and Joyce Burns, Bedford; two daughters, Josie and Gene Barrett, Conyers, Ga., Ella Goens, Scottsburg; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two brothers, Hershel and Martha Nolen, Ohio, Ben Nolen, Paris Crossing; two sisters, Dora Lesnet, Ezzlee Manning, Seymour. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome and Raphel, and a sister, Thuresa. Brother Billy Joe Deaton will conduct funeral Services at 11 a.m. Friday, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at Adams Funeral Home.
