Seymour Daily Tribune Marvin Oliver Stanfield Jan. 10, 1929 – June 8, 2006 Marvin Oliver Stanfield, 77, Seymour, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. Stanfield was a member of Central Christian Church. He retired after 30-plus years from Jay’s Market. At one time he was a deacon elder, Sunday school superintendent and a Little League coach for many years. Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Seymour, he was a son of Oliver and Alma Schmidt Stanfield, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 16, 1950, in Central Christian Church, he married Sophia Alexander, who survives at Seymour. Other survivors include three children, Steve (Mindy) Stanfield and Laura (Gilbert) VanWinkle, both of Seymour, and Brad (Kate) Stanfield, Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Kyle and Amy Stanfield, Kelly Stanfield, Greg and Heather VanWinkle, Allison VanWinkle, Andy Stanfield and Lori Stanfield; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jordyn Hall. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Stanfield, and two sisters, Velma Bell and Thelma Duwe. The Rev. Sam Davenport and the Rev. Rick Grant will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Boys & Girls Club of Seymour.
