Seymour Daily Tribune February 27, 2002 Vera E. Stigdon Vera E. Stigdon, 85, Seymour, died at 10:37 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Seymour, after being in failing health for six years. Mrs. Stigdon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a homemaker. Born April 29, 1916, at Sauers, she was a daughter of William Steltenpohl and Lizzie Schrier Steltenpohl. In 1935, she married Garris Goble, who died in 1940. On April 19, 1947, in Columbus, she married Walter Stigdon, who died June 22, 1983. Survivors include eight children, Walter E. Stigdon, Edwin Dale Stigdon, Mrs. Cleo (Phyllis) Strong, Mrs. John (Rhea) Allman, William C. Goble and Gary E. Goble, all of Seymour, Danny C. Stigdon, Kokomo, and Mrs. John (Sherry) Harris, Crothersville; a brother, Mearl Steltenpohl, Seymour; three sisters, Verna Thias, Evelyn Thias and Beulah Stuckwisch, all of Seymour; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild; a great-great-grandchild; two sons, Gene L. Goble and Tommy Stigdon; three brothers, Maurice, Melvin and Luther Steltenpohl; and two sisters, Bernetta Dickmeyer and Leota Steltenpohl. The Rev. Philip Bloch will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Sauers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
