Seymour Daily Tribune February 22, 2002 Jewell Mae Strother Jewell Mae Strother, 75, of North Vernon and formerly of Indianapolis, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Strother was an assembler at Western Electric Co. in Indianapolis, retiring in 1981 after 31 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Born May 18, 1926, in Mississippi, she was a daughter of Horrie Fitts and Myrtle Osborn Fitts. She had lived in North Vernon since 1981. She was preceded in death by four husbands, Otis Bonham, Edward Johnson, George Miers and Lawrence Strother. Survivors include a son, James E. Johnson, North Vernon; a daughter, Sharon S. Corse, Poway, Calif.; a sister, Bette Beemer, Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stirling-Gerber Funeral Home, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon was in charge of local arrangements.
