Seymour Daily Tribune February 8, 2002 Roland Summerfield Roland “Butch” Summerfield, 58, North Vernon, died at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at his home. Mr. Summerfield attended Vernon Elementary School and was a past member of Teamster Local 135 of Indianapolis. He had been a supervisor for LP Cavett, for whom he worked for 25 years, and had worked for O’Mara Construction the last two years. He enjoyed country music and fishing. Born April 21, 1943, in North Vernon, he was a son of Logan Summerfield and Mabel Bowen Summerfield. On July 1, 1962, in Hayden, he married Sandra Fortner, who survives in North Vernon. Other survivors include two sons, Kevin Summerfield and Ronald Summerfield, both of North Vernon; two sisters, Estell Kick, Beech Grove, and Peggy Renfro, Commiskey; and three brothers, Bobby Ollis, New Albany, Harry Wheeldon, North Vernon, and Jack Wheeldon, Columbus. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Sue Summerfield, and a brother, Fred Wheeldon. Tom Mattingly will conduct services at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pickett Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. To 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jennings County.
