Seymour Tribune Iva Jean Waskom Thompson 1925 - 2008 Iva Jean Waskom Thompson, 83, Seymour, passed away at 1:04 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Seymour Christian Church. She was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in Jackson County, with the exception of several years in other states. Born Jan. 20, 1925, in Tampico, she was the daughter of Ira Waskom and Myrtle Jenkins Waskom, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 2, 1946, in Brownstown, she married Robert K. Thompson, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include children, Rhonda (Dennis) Schwein and Jan (Bill) Cash, both of Seymour, and Karen (Walt) Diefendorf, Lincoln, Ill.; brothers, Jerry Waskom, Danville, Ky., and David Waskom, Brownstown; a sister, Lonavene Johnson, Vallonia; and grandchildren, Tiffany Schwein, Nathan Schwein, B.J. Schwein, Judson Schwein, Natalie Schwein, Jarrod Cash, Amanda Diefendorf, Patrick Ashley Diefendorf and Bradley Diefendorf. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Larry Waskom. Bill Lockman and Bill Weaver will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Seymour Christian Church. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
