Seymour Tribune Jo Ann (Gray) Thompson 1926 - 2008 Jo Ann Thompson, 82, Seymour, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Lutheran Community Home. Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and a great source of support to her husband. She graduated from Purdue University in 1948, majoring in home economics. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Psi Iota Xi. She was a dedicated volunteer and devoted many hours to the Boys Club, Cub Scouts and Church Supper Committee, as well as belonging to the Bridge Club and Embroidery Guild. Born April 8, 1926, in Brownstown, she was the daughter of Frank B. and Pauline E. Schneider Gray. On March 27, 1949, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Brownstown, with the Rev. Theo. J.E. Herrmann officiating, she married James Temple Thompson, who preceded her in death July 10, 2007. Jo Ann is survived by a daughter, Ann Louise (Rick) Taylor; two sons, James Thomas (Sylvia) Thompson and Robert David (Teresa) Thompson; six grandchildren, James Harrison Thompson, Natalie Sichman, Christin Sichman, Nikki (Johnson) Helmuth, Katie Taylor and Andrew Taylor; and a brother, Frank "Bud" (Wanda) Gray. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Ellen Schreiner. The Rev. Edgar Keinath will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove Tribute. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the James T. Thompson Scholarship Fund or First Presbyterian Church.
