Seymour Daily Tribune February 25, 2002 Hazel Easter Tipps Hazel Easter Tipps, 91, Salem, died at 9:55 a.m. Saturday at Floyd Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Tipps was a retired nurse’s aide, having worked at Washington County Memorial Hospital and Meadowview Health Care Center. She was a member of Salem First Christian Church. Born March 27, 1910, in Washington County, she was a daughter of John Newton and Martha Gullett Peek. On Aug. 16, 1930, she married Ralph Tipps, who died Jan. 29, 1971. Survivors include three grandchildren, Jeffrey Tipps, Valerie Chambers and Charla Jo Centers; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Tipps. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Eugene Tipps; four brothers, Ivan, Alvin, Otis and Roy Peek; and two sisters, Blanche Nicholson and Cora Killion. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Weathers Funeral Home, Salem. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
