Maralan (Dixon) Underwood
1935 - 2009 
Maralan "Jody" Underwood, 74, Medora, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Dunn Memorial Hospital, Bedford.
Mrs. Underwood was a homemaker and retired from F. Fines and Sons in Bedford. She graduated in 1953 from Medora High School. She was a member of Medora Wesleyan Church. She loved sewing, reading, church and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.
Born Aug. 31, 1935, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Howard Dixon Sr. and Nellie Watts Dixon, both of whom preceded her in death. On Sept. 13, 1958, she married Nolan Underwood, who preceded her in death in 2003.
Survivors include one son, Tim (Debbie) Underwood, Seymour; one daughter, Tammy (Bill) Wilson, Medora; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wilson, Justyn Underwood, Ethan Underwood, Logan Underwood, Michelle Ross and Melissa Larson; three great-grandchildren, Madison Bobb, Mason Ross, and Maddox Ross; two sisters, Mary Jane Guffey, Medora, and Pauline Isaacs, Cortland; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Dixon Jr., and two sisters, Barbara Brewer and Dixie Jean Lane.
Pastor Chuck Morgan and Steve Gommel will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hague Funeral Home, Medora. Burial will take place at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
