Seymour Tribune - November 9, 2009 Ralph Eugene Underwood Ralph Eugene Underwood, 73, of Haleysburg died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Washington County Memorial Hospital. He had been ill 23 years. He was a retired logger and former employee of Golden Foundry and Arvin. He loved attending auctions and spending time with family and friends, hunting and watching wildlife. He never met a stranger and loved roses. Born April 24, 1936, in Washington County, he was a son of George and Mamie Bell Spurgeon Underwood. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was married July 9, 1955, in Seymour to Dorothy Marie Wheeler Underwood. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Ralph Underwood Jr., Vallonia, Rick (Susan) Underwood, Seymour, Warren (Kim) Underwood, Vallonia, Boyd (Vickie) Underwood, Salem, and Mamie (David) Underwood Boling, Vallonia; a brother, George Underwood, Vallonia; two sisters, Betty Underwood Londot, Brownstown, and Bessie Underwood Nolan, Salem; grandchildren, Patrick Underwood, Ricky Underwood, Viki Underwood, Shane Underwood, Stephanie Underwood, Roger Chastain, Ronnie Chastain, Mike Chastain, Joey Chastain and Nathan Boling; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Charles Underwood, Oscar Underwood and Glen (Butch) Underwood. The Rev. Chris Criminger will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Burial will be at Vallonia Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
