Seymour Daily Tribune March 25, 2002 Helen A. Walker Helen A. Walker, 75, Columbus, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs. Walker was a retired custodian after 20 years at Parkside Baptist Church. She was a former waitress at Fisher’s Fish Stand and also was a housekeeper for several years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Whitecreek, where she had been a Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the Ladies Aid Society at the church. Born May 22, 1926, at Columbus, she was a daughter of Elmer and Clara Kobbe Eckelman. On June 14, 1953, at Columbus, she married Paul Walker, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Sue Geilker, Columbus, Vickie Shafer, Taylorsville, and Shari Turpen, Greenwood; three grandchildren, Laura Geilker, Columbus, and Seth and Trey Shafer, both of Taylorsville; and a brother, Norval Eckelman, Columbus. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herschel “Huck” Eckelman, and a sister, Edell Eckelman. The Rev. Eldon L. Brandt will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Whitecreek. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel, 25th Street, Columbus, and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School Fund at Whitecreek or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
