Richard C. Whipker
1935 - 2009 

Richard C. Whipker, 73, Seymour, passed away at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mr. Whipker was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. He retired April 1, 1994, from Cummins Engine Co., Columbus. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Indiana National Guard from 1957 to 1962.
Born Nov. 22, 1935, in Decatur County, he was the son of Harry Augustus and Verna Charlotte Henderson Whipker, both of whom preceded him in death.
On May 29, 1957, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bartholomew County, he married Carole L. Bedel White, who preceded him in death Feb. 19, 2009.
Survivors include his children, Susan Gail (Mark) Rouse, Nancy Diane (Rodney) Lawrence, Gary Dale (Anita) Whipker, Steven Curtis (Marsha) Whipker and Richard Scott (Tammy) Whipker; grandchildren, Sheila (Larry) Risk, Shannon Whipker, Sarah Beth Whipker, Bryan Whipker, Jared Whipker, Matthew (Sarah) Whipker, Chelsa Rouse, Chad Rouse, Chase Rouse, Rachel Whipker, Courtney Whipker and William "Bill" Whipker; four great-grandchildren, Victoria Risk, Samantha Risk, Evan Rudicel-Rouse and Brooklyn Whipker; and a sister-in-law, Georgia "Tootie" Whipker.
He also left behind his beloved dog, Little Bit.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Joseph Whipker.
Pastor Ralph Blomenberg, Pastor Jimmy Rodriguez and Pastor Philip Bloch will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour, with full military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Korean and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.
