Seymour Daily Tribune February 11, 2002 Mabel Whittington Mabel Whittington, 93, Columbus, died at 12:46 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs. Whittington was a homemaker and previously had been employed with Indiana Linen. She was a member of Mount Carmel Church. Born Nov. 14, 1908, in Bartholomew County, she was a daughter of Ira Hornback and Minnie Elizabeth Holton Hornback. On June 29, 1929, she married Clifford D. Whittington, who died Jan. 16, 1962. Survivors include a son, Robert W. Whittington, Seymour; three daughters, Vivian Burton, Edinburgh, and Norma Wilson and Judy Freeman, both of Columbus; a brother, the Rev. Arthur Hornback, Columbus; two sisters, Nellie Jones, Columbus, and Mary Neal, Seymour; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Harold and Ralph Hornback; a sister, Edith Brandt; and a grandchild. The Rev. Carl Uebel and the Rev. Jeff Burton will conduct services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman Funeral Home, Columbus. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Central Wesleyan Church or donor’s choice of charities.
