Lois L. Williams

Lois L. Williams, 80, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, a wife, a mother and also a friend. She worked at Gerwin Shoe for 17 years, and 16 yeas at the Red Cross-U.S. Shoe Co. and Joyce of Calif Shoes in Osgood. She was a graduate of Cortland High School in 1943 and taught a Sunday school class of young people for five years at St. Paul United Church of Christ from 1950 to 1955. She was a member of St. Paul Church most of her life. She enjoyed playing cards four or five times a month. She also liked cooking and enjoyed collecting cookbooks. She was a member of Elks Lodge 462 and BPO Elks, Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles and also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Born Feb. 8, 1926, in Cortland, she was a daughter of Henry and Emma Plumer, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married 25 years to William H. Alexander, who died in 1971. In 1976 she married Russell R. Williams, who died in 1995. They did a lot of traveling for 19 years until he became sick and died after six weeks of illness from a cancerous brain tumor.
Survivors include a son, Larry G. Alexander; a daughter, Bonnie Lou Halcomb, both of Indianapolis; a stepson, Kent W. Williams, Florida; a stepdaughter, Gwyn G. Schroeder, Michigan City; two grandsons, a granddaughter, four stepgrandchildren, great-grandtwins, Georgia and Wyatt Alexander, three great-grandchildren, Katie and Austin Ehm and Aidan Alexander, a brother, Donald Joe Plumer, Brownstown, a sister, Ruth Geneal Carter, Reddington, and a sister-in-law, Helen Plumer.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Glen and Gene Plumer. 
The Rev. Laurie Davis will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
After a white limousine ride by the family from Voss Chapel to the cemetery, Lois will be placed beside her two children’s late father, William H. Alexander. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Church or donor’s choice.
