Seymour Daily Tribune January 17, 2002 Mary Martha Williams Mary Martha Williams, 70, Butlerville, died at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and attended Bear Creek Elementary School. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Greensburg. She worked at Jenn Acres for 10 years and Arvin of North Vernon for three years. She enjoyed quilting and working on the family farm. Born April 10, 1931, in Anderson, she was a daughter of William O. Poore and Alfredette Thompson Poore. In October 1963, in Ripley County, she married Walter Williams, who died Dec. 31, 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Diana Bott, North Vernon, and Mary E. Wright, Deputy; two stepdaughters, Janice Garrett and Phyllis Williams, both of New Castle; four sons, James Ashton, Ronald Ashton and William “Bill” Ashton, all of Butlerville, and Keith Ashton, Lancaster; a stepson, Allan Williams, Milwaukee; a brother, Marvin Poore, Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Annabelle Lucas; a sister, Alice Dowen; and two brothers, Junior Poore and Fred Poore. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at Pickett Funeral Home, North Vernon. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
