Seymour Daily Tribune March 1, 2002 Betty J. Shinkle Wilson Betty J. “Betsy” Shinkle Wilson, 67, North Vernon, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Wilson attended New Marion High School and Versailles Vocational School. In 1993, after 37 years, she retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where she had been an attendant, secretary, keypunch operator and bookkeeper. She had been active as a Sunday school teacher and Baptist Youth Fellowship sponsor and was a past president of the Jennings County High School Band Boosters. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling and playing softball. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Lady Lions and Vernon Baptist Church. Born March 31, 1934, in Ripley County, she was a daughter of Howard Andress and Marie Siebein Andress. On March 6, 1956, she married Richard Shinkle, who died June 26, 1987. On Sept. 6, 1989, at Vernon Baptist Church, she married Roland “Red” Wilson, who survives in North Vernon. Other survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Wall, Milan, and Susan Thompson, Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Paige Wall and Nicole Wall, both of Milan, and Victoria Thompson, Indianapolis; three grandsons, Lucas Wall, Milan, and Zachary Thompson and Broderick Thompson, both of Indianapolis; and three sisters, Elsie Franklin, Holton, and Carolyn Fisk and Brenda Mills, both of Versailles. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Dale, and a daughter, Connie Jane. Dale Day will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vernon Baptist Church. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jennings County through Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, which is in charge of arrangements.
