Seymour Tribune - September 24, 2009 Carolyn Sue (Spurgeon) Wilson 1942 - 2009 Carolyn Sue Wilson, 67, of Brownstown and formerly of Freetown, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church at Vallonia. She had worked four years at Dicksons, Seymour, and had been a secretary for Wilson Excavating. She loved to read and loved spending time with all of her grandchildren; however, her pride and joy was her granddaughter, Brooke Tilford. Born Jan. 23, 1942, in Muncie, she was the daughter of Louis Renus Spurgeon and Goldie E. Wayt Spurgeon Sutton, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 22, 1958, in Kentucky, she married V. Loran Wilson, who survives. Other survivors include daughters, Terri (Bryan) Wilson, Brownstown, Monique (Rick) Phegley, Freetown, and Cathy Wilson, Brownstown; son, Loran "Bud" Wilson, Brownstown; stepdaughters, Becky Wilson, Ellettsvile, and Brenda (Doug) Strain, Smithville; son-in-law, Denny Cole, Seymour; eight grandchildren, Heather (Tom) Gross, Rusty Phegley and Tim Phegley, Kris (Jesse) Cole, Nata (Maggie) Cole, Sarah (Allen) Hughbanks, Matt (Ashley) Wilson and Daren Wilson; brother, Sonny (Debbie) Spurgeon, Seymour; sister, Betty (Everett) Moore, Freetown; stepbrother, Gene Sutton, Scottsburg; and stepsister, Wilma Ping, Brownstown. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Cole; one granddaughter, Brooke Tilford; one brother, Bill Spurgeon; and two sisters, Iva K. Piel and Bonnie Lee Harris Casebier. Greg Underwood will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Kurtz Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
