Seymour Daily Tribune February 8, 2007 Carol D. Winslow May 31, 1911 – Feb. 6, 2007 Carol D. Winslow, 95, Salem, died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Meadowview Health Care Center. Mr. Winslow was retired from Winslow Construction, where he worked in construction as a superintendent of production. He also worked for the Charlestown Powder Plant as a chemist from 1940-1945, and was superintendent for East Washington Water Corporation for two years. He was involved in the design and construction of Delaney Park and most recently was a volunteer driver for LifeSpring. He was a lifelong member and an elder of Salem Presbyterian Church. Born May 31, 1911, in Washington County, he was a son of Lonnie and Frankie Payne Winslow, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married to Emily Winslow for 63 years. She preceded him in death in 2004. Survivors include four sons, Lonnie K. and Teresa Winslow, Salem, Vance G. and Nancy Winslow, New Albany, Alan E. and Camila Winslow, Seymour, and Carroll D. and Marion Winslow, New Albany; five sisters, Lucille Benefiel, Wilma Winslow and Neva Tatlock, all of Salem, Charmaine (Gene) Thompson, Crawfordsville, and Rosie Moss, Prattville, Ala.; 15 grandchildren, Lindsay (David) Brown, Cassiopeia, Susan, Andra, Kaylee, and Andrew Winslow, Joshua and Natalie Winslow, Anna (Nick) Stone, Cristina (Kyle) Seely, Matthew Winslow, Molly (Doug) Bierman, and Seth (Kim), Marissa and Sara Winslow; two great-grandchildren, Myles Bierman and Riley Winslow; a sister-in-law, Grace Ann Denny, Indianapolis; numerous nieces and nephews and close friend, Keith Pollard, Salem. He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Winslow and one sister, Jean Cunningham. The family recognizes the assistance and loving care provided by caretakers, Belinda Edwards, Barbara Brewer and in earlier years, Mary Elrod. Sara Shields and Alvin Yoder will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at Salem Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weathers Funeral Home, Salem, and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
