Seymour Daily Tribune James Dyer Woodworth Jr. Sept. 5, 1935 – July 15, 2006 James Dyer Woodworth Jr., 70, Seymour, died July 15, 2006. Mr. Woodworth was a graduate of New Palestine High School where he ran track, cross country, and was a Boy Scout, and served in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a 1993 retired teamster from Indianapolis Kroger Dairy Maintenance Department. He formerly worked for his father as a plumber, and with Bryants Heating and Cooling, Belt Railroad, Diamond Chain, Jerdans and Bemis Company. He was an active hunter, fisherman, 3-D archer, and conservationist. He was a member of the Indiana Bowhunters Association, Indiana Trapshooters Association and the National Rifle Association. He had a passion for square dancing and was a member of the Bucks and Does Club of Nashville and the Star Promenaders of Seymour. His most recent contribution to the community was teaching the third grade class at St. Ambrose Catholic School in Seymour how to square dance and line dance. He was a pioneer cancer patient as the oldest and longest living recipient of a stem cell transplant. Born Sept. 5, 1935, in Veedersburg, he was a son of James Dyer Woodworth Sr. and Rosa Mildred Ferguson Woodworth, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 27, 1954, he married Lillian Jeannette Curry. She survives. They were married for 52 years. Other survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Joseph) Kriech, Indianapolis, Susan (Garry) Wolfe, Bedford, and Janet Jennings, Fairborn, Ohio; two brothers, Norman Woodworth, Summerville, Fla., and Larry Woodworth, New Palestine; two sisters, Dorothy Johnston, Banks, Ore., and Arlene Rifner, Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan) Kriech Shaver, Sarah and Rachel Kreich, Eric, Kevin and Amy Wolfe and Daniel and Matthew Jennings and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Sherill. Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Indiana Blood and Marrow Transplantation, 1600 Albany Street, 6 Tower, Beech Grove.
