Tommy J. Derringer age 78, of Van Wert, Ohio and former Jay County
resident passed away Tuesday in the Van Crest Health Care Center. He was
born in Jay County October 29, 1940 the son of Charlie and Ruth (Hastings)
Derringer. He was married in 1962 to Betty J. Sills and she passed away in
2018. He was a supervisor for Dana Corporation in Marion and also had worked
at Union City Body Co. He served in the US Marine Corps. He was a Portland
Moose Lodge member, Alexandria Eagles Lodge, Jay County Conservation Club,
North American Hunting and Fishing Association and American Rifle
Association.
Surviving are one sister Nancy Derringer of
Indianapolis. Four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren
He was
preceded in death by his wife Betty and a daughter Vicky Heimann, brothers
Jimmy and
Bobby Derringer and sisters Patty Jo Kelly and Peggy
Montgomery.
Funeral services will be Friday August 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM
in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial
will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00
PM. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor
