Nellie L. McClung

Nellie L. McClung, 84, Portland, died Wednesday evening September 27, 1995, following an extended illness. She was born July 3, 1911, in Shelby County, Ohio to William and Amanda (Greer) Wiebusch. She married Raymond E. McClung July 27, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1978.

Mrs. McClung was a longtime member of the Portland Church of the Brethren where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, a former member of the Jay County Chorus and the Church Women United. She had worked at the Jay Garment Co., the Modern Book Bindery formerly of Portland, and taught high school for 4 years at South Adams. She graduated from Portland High School in 1928 and from Ball State University in 1966 with a B.A. in education.

She is survived by 5 sons, Stephen McClung (Wife Sharon) Portland; David McClung (wife Kathleen) R. #6, Portland; John McClung (wife Sherry), Indianapolis; Kit McClung (wife Dana), R. #5, Portland and Keven McClung (wife Diane) R. #4, Portland; 4 daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Bragg (husband Merl), Cambridge, Ohio; Mrs. Martha Gross (husband John), New Haven; Mrs. Barbara Glentzer (husband Mike), Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Peggy Peterson (husband Mike)Portland; sister, Ruby Iliff, R. #6, Portland; a brother, Orville Wiebusch (wife Maxine), Phoenix, Arizona; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, October 1, in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Rev. John Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery.
