Shelby Franklin, Jr., age 85, a resident of Portland, passed away on
Thursday, November 12, 2020 at IU Health Jay Hospital in Portland.
Shelby was born on October 28, 1935, in New Castle, Indiana, the son of
James Shelby and Dorothy (McCaffrey) Franklin. Shelby worked for Brodericks
of Muncie for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of West Walnut
Street Church of Christ in Portland. Shelby married Janeen Ward on June 7,
1964.

A service to celebrate
Shelby’s life will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and
Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Gil Alicea will conduct the service
and burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
