PORTLAND, July 10.--Funeral services for Ruben Smith, 80, will be
conducted Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the Baird chapel with burial
in Green Park cemetery,. Smith a pioneer Portland businessman, died at the
Jay county hospital Tuesday afternoon. He located in Portland in 1880 and
conducted a barber shop here until his recent illness. Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. William Madison and Mrs. George Ballenger, both of Benton
Harbor, Mich.
