PORTLAND WOMAN DIES IN MICHIGAN ACCIDENT

MRS. ETTA E. SHEFFER, 84, LOSES LIFE IN AUTO CRASH

Portland, July 28—Mrs. Etta E. Sheffer, 84, 610 N. Pleasant St., Portland, was killed instantly at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Waterford, Mich. She was hit by an automobile while walking across U.S. 10.

Reports received here said that she was crossing the street to visit with a neighbor of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mullen. She was visiting in the Mullen home.

Mrs. Sheffer was the widow of Henry R. Sheffer, who died April 7, 1942. She was born in Madison Twp. The Sheffers lived in Madison for many years. She was the daughter of Adam and Sarah Ellen (Moore) Burr. On March 6, 1898, she was married. She was the last of her family as three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, three sons, 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
