Violet Bernadette Walter, 70, RR 1, Pennville died early today at Caylor-Nickel Medical Center, Bluffton, following a brief illness.

She attended the Sugar Grove Church) of the Nazarene.

Born Aug. 20, 1923, in Jay County, she was Walter the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Ledbetter) Schwartzkopf. She was married July 25 1943, to Harold E. Walter, who survives.

Surviving , besides her husband are two sons, Thomas J. Walter, Portland, and John E. Walter, RR 1, Pennville; one daughter, Bonnie J. Landers, Portland; two sisters, Mrs. George (Ruby) Brooks, Fort Lauderdale, Fla, and Mrs. Harry F. (Catherine) Kelly, Portland; three brothers, Lavine S. and Kenneth Schwartzkopft both of Portland, and Jim Schwartzkopf, Lakeland, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Friday in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Bauer and the Rev. Allen Walter officiating. Burial will be in the Pennville IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and prior to services Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Sugar Grove Church of the Nazarene.
