MAN, 63, SHOOTS SELF ON SUNDAY

HAWS F. AVEY, BROTHER OF BRYANT MEN, TAKES OWN LIFE


Portland, Aug. 6—Haws F. Avey, 63, was found dead in a bedroom of his home four miles northwest of here about 3:30 p.m. Sunday by his son, Robert V. Avey, who lives west of here.

He had shot himself with a .32 caliber revolver about 11 a.m. Sunday, according to Dr. Stanley Hammond, Jay County Coroner, who investigated.

Mr. Avey was a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of Jackson Township.

Surviving in addition to the son are two granddaughters; four brothers, Taylor and Sell Avey, who reside west of Bryant; Elmer Avey, east of Pennville, and Omer Avey, Molalla, Ore., and three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Myers of Molalla, Mrs. Alice Myers, Oregon City, Ore., and Mrs. Lulu Welch, Salem, Ore.

The body is here at the Williamson Funeral Home where friends may call. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, the Rev. A. N. Shockney of Fort Wayne officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Pennville.
