Jefferson County Old Photos
Many Thanks to Suzanne Kowal, who sent in these pictures that were found by Nancy Karnen who found them among the possessions of their aunt Imogene McIntire, who lived near Paris Crossing in Jennings County.

Dr. Imogene McIntire was on the faculty at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, later she was Professor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Suzanne states - "Not only did Imogene teach at the University of Manitoba but she was responsible for establishing a department of Early Childhood Education. And, when the Univ. wanted to force her to retire at 65 she sued them and won. The repercussions were felt at least province-wide. She finally retired when she was 72. As she still had her wits about her I asked why and she said that her arthritis was bad enough that she was going to need a cane and she'd be doggoned if she'd let the administration see that!"

The McIntire family were early settlers in southeastern Indiana.
