GADDY/WYKOFF CEMETERY
Turn off Hwy 3 at the Paris sign, go to first street turn north the cemetery sits on the left just before the street turns.

This graveyard sits on what was the original location of the  Paris Methodist Episcopal Church. Before 1837 while the church was still standing on these lots there would have been a lane connecting the church and town cemetery which was then called the Paris cemetery. Some people refer to the Cemeteries as the upper and lower sections of the Paris cemetery, and the lower section is now called Cave/Dixon cemetery. After the church burned in 1837 these lots were turned into a cemetery, at that time it was just a more accessable than the one. It is now known of as Gaddy/Wykoff cemetery. The Methodist Church was rebuilt across Highway 250 on second street.

Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest; neglected and alone.
The name and date are chisled out on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care, it is to late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist, you died an I was born.
Yet each of us your cells are in, in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago,
Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew,
That someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you
