George Elsworth Wine

George Elsworth WINE was a Civil War veteran; he served in Company C, 4th Indiana Calvary Volunteers, enlisting in Warsaw on 8 August 1862. His pension files state that, "while on duty in Georgetown, Kentucky, he was thrown from his horse, causing injury to his right arm, left side and spine." He was hospitalized in Louisville and Lexington, KY, and discharged 22 Jan 1863 because of his disability. He married his next door neighbor, Isabella MYERS, on 7 Oct 1863. His physical description (in his Civil War pension file) is: 5'8" tall, light complexion, light hair and light eyes. He was of German heritage.
